Countdown to SW9. Last 7 days. In day 2, let’s analyse an important theme played out in the second theme: Democracy.
The idea of democracy stands clearly in the center of this film. How is it visually represented? The cinematography speaks for itself.
The Army
The creation of an army is justified as a need for the state to survive, in this case the state is clearly representing Democracy.
Delegates: Voice of the People
Delegates, representatives are an important aspect of a democratic society. They represent the people who have elected them to be their voice. They make decisions on behalf of the people who voted for them but it does not always satisfy ‘the people’.
And what happens if the people aren’t satisfied? According to Anakin, ‘aggressive negotiations’ need to be made.
It is just another word for WAR.
So in the end, we see that when politicians sit down and discuss the problem, there isn’t always a solution. Well, is war a solution? There’s something to think about.
Could peace be made in a system which ‘seperatists’ are forming and the people aren’t satisfied with the councils which represent them anymore?
