Star Wars Episode VIII- The Last Jedi: 3 Tricks Used in Keeping the Audience Interested

Countdown to SW9. Today is the final day before SW9 is released in Germany! In day 8 of our countdown to the FINAL film, we will playfully present to you 3 tricks that the 8th film uses to keep our attention!

1.Diversity

Each main ‘new’ character in this film comes from a different background in the modern sense. It is played out well and intentionally. Oh yes, the diversity is great. It is an attempt to show inclusiveness and it catches our attention, so it had to be in the list.

2. Echos

Everyone who has or not seen Harry Potter will relate to this mirror scene when Rey is trying to figure herself out. The kid who yearns for his parents and wants to know the mystery behind it. This scene just feels like an echo. This tricky attention grabber may be a little personal, but then again if most agree on it maybe this moment really had the intention of carving itself into our heads.

3.Conflict

An evil character spiced up is an evil character with a conflict. The film uses this very well with Kylo Ren. Always throwing bait and leading us into thinking  he could actually turn to the good side. Some may be caught in this bait some may not. But even the ‘hope’ that this character’s conflict offers suffices in keeping our attention. So just as conflict is part of every drama, it is certainly a part of this film.
